Frequently asked questions

  • What is a raw diet?

A raw diet consists solely of fresh, unprocessed foods crafted from genuine ingredients—meat, bone, and offal, precisely as nature designed. There are no fillers, no additives, and nothing concealed. Our 80:10:10 meals adhere to the BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) dietary framework to ensure biologically balanced nutrition.

  • How much raw food should I feed my dog?

For adult dogs, provide 2-3% of their ideal body weight each day.

For puppies, offer 4-10% based on their age (younger puppies require more).

Each dog is unique, so make adjustments according to their body condition and activity levels.

  • Can I switch my dog to raw straight away?

Absolutely, and for the majority of dogs, this is the most straightforward way to begin.

There are two simple methods to consider for making the transition: the Straight Switch and the Gradual Switch.

    The Straight Switch

This approach involves finishing your current food and then serving raw at the next meal. Many dogs thrive with this method, as their digestion adjusts quickly, often resulting in firm stools within just a few days. It’s uncomplicated, tidy, and eliminates the possibility of digestive issues from mixing raw and kibble in the same meal.

    The Gradual Switch

If your dog has a sensitive stomach, is older, or has been on heavily processed food for an extended period, you might opt for a more gradual transition. Start with a mix of ¼ raw and ¾ current food but serve them as separate meals—never combined. Over the course of 3-4 days, gradually increase the portion of raw food while decreasing the old food until the transition is complete.

There’s no universally “correct” method—just select the approach that works best for your dog.

  • Is raw feeding safe?

Certainly – provided that you purchase from an authorized producer. All our Raw Treat meals are crafted in our DEFRA-approved facility using human-grade meat, sourced from FSA-approved suppliers.

  • Why are my dog’s poos smaller on raw?

Raw food contains no fillers – the body absorbs more, so waste is reduced.

  • Can raw food help with allergies or sensitivities?

For many dogs, raw feeding can indeed lead to a significant improvement. Unlike processed diets, raw dog food consists of straightforward, species-appropriate ingredients, eliminating many common triggers such as grains, artificial additives, and heavily processed proteins.

Here’s why raw feeding frequently proves beneficial:

Fewer ingredients mean easier identification of triggers. A single-protein raw meal contains exactly what is listed – no hidden surprises. This transparency simplifies the process of pinpointing problematic foods.

Natural nutrients promote skin and gut health. Fresh meat, healthy fats, and balanced bone content work together to enhance gut function, resulting in a healthier gut and less overall inflammation.

By avoiding fillers and synthetic additives, raw feeding eliminates reactions that may stem not from the protein itself, but from preservatives, binders, or carbohydrate-laden fillers commonly found in processed foods.

Moreover, raw food offers superior digestibility. Dogs are naturally equipped to digest raw ingredients, leading to less digestive irritation and a lower risk of nutrient deficiencies.

For example, if a dog shows adverse reactions to chicken-based kibble, transitioning to a single-protein duck raw diet may soothe symptoms, as it comprises solely one authentic ingredient, rather than chicken combined with grains, flavor enhancers, starches, and binders.

Although raw feeding isn't a panacea, many pet owners witness improvements in issues such as itching, coat quality, gastrointestinal problems, tear stains, and excessive paw chewing after making the switch to natural raw dog food.
